Self-efficacy is the confident feeling about yourself, or the unshakable belief that one can hold. It reminds me of a statement made by Prof.Lee Peng Yee who teaches mathematics at the National University of Singapore: If you believe you can catch a bus, you will run for it. Even if the statement is extremely inspirational and helpful, it only works for the people who actually have an understanding about themselves to a certain degree and ready to make the difference. Success come to the one who never give up. In the quote, the bus represents the goal, the achievement that you want to earn. As a matter of fact, the bus always pulls over at the bus stop to pick up passengers and it only waits for a short period of time to let passenger on. And if you missed it, it’s gone. After we had lunch and my parents had left, my brother and I started to unload the truck. I grabbed the first load and headed for the shed. I was in the shed putting things away for about ten minutes. My brother was still not back there with another load. I went around the front of the house looking for him when I saw a flash. As I reached the driveway I saw my brother just as he was throwing another match on the driveway. When the matchhit the concrete a flare of fire leaped up about five foot and was gone just as fast as it appeared. I immediately forgot about unloading the truck and joined my brother. He explained to me how it worked. He handed me a five-pound can of gunpowderand told me to pour a small pile out on the driveway. After I did and back away he tore out another match from the pack,struck it and threw it on the pile of powder. Again the flash leaped from the driveway. We continued this way, with mepouring and him throwing the match, until we were down to the second to last match. We had to figure out a way to continue before we were out of matches. We had i t. We noticed that when the powder had burned off the match wouldstill be laying there burning. My brother suggested that we simply pour some on the match. Without thinking it throughanother second, I tilted the can and began to pour the powder. Everything that happened after that was a blur. I rememberrunning backward as fast as I could, still holding onto the can. I threw the can away from me just as it exploded. A blinding flash filled my head as a crushing boom emptied the air from my lungs. I fell to the ground and remember hearing, as clear as a bell, the metal ends of the canister bouncing off the driveway. When I got off the ground a split second later I was ina panic. I ran faster than I will probably ever again. I didnt know where I was headed but I had to get there fast. I endedup running into the house, down the hall to the bathroom. As I came into the bathroom I slipped on the rug and slid underneaththe sink. I looked down at myself for the first time and watched as sev eral blisters appeared on my legs. The modern political history of Ireland can be separated into two time periods. The first period is it’s time spent under British rule as only one territory of the United Kingdom. The second period, which represents the beginning of the modern Irish state, took place during the early twentieth century. The road to national sovereignty was neither easy nor short as Britain was far from eager to let its dependent state go. The first organized movement towards independence occurred in 1916 when revolutionaries declared Ireland to be free from British rule on Easter of that year. Despite the ultimate failure of this initial push towards freedom Britain eventually granted the southern 26, of 38, counties dominion status in 1921. Further steps were taken in 1937 when Ireland drafted its constitution and was granted full sovereignty. The final phase in southern Ireland’s independence came in 1949 when its status as a British commonwealth ended and the nation was declared a re public. However, even after disassociating itself from the United Kingdom the southern counties of Ireland wouldn’t be completely satisfied as long as the remaining 6 counties that comprised Northern Ireland were still a part of Britain’s empire. The predominantly protestant northern counties of Ireland have been a barrier to peace in the region from the first days of the Republic up to today. These counties are considered as a separate state but can also be considered as the same nation. It is fundamental that Justice should be the same, In substance and availability, without regard to economic status, by Justice Lewis Powell Jar,† when I read the cases of Del Gonzalez and Ethan couch. On the light of above quote and the two cases (incidents that would be further discuss more) I would like to discuss the effects of rich power on the justice and how bad upbringing of the children affects the society. And not only society also the future of the younger enervation.As only the rich are able to escape the sentence to life in prison but the rest of them are leading their whole life in prison. So in the essay the discussion will continue with, sentence to life in prison should that be given or not. Justice being biased is a very bad thing. This will give a very bad impact both on the Justice and also on the ones who will be facing the p unishments. The ones committed the crime or even a part of that crime will be facing the prison and the ones who committed the crime and they are also rich will be left free and enjoying all the benefits of life. I believe in the saying, â€Å"Injustice anywhere is a threat to Justice everywhere, by Martin†, and hence when I relate it this to our topic, Ethan Couch by eying the Justice into his hands, has brought injustice to all the four people he killed.He should actually be punished as per the law as he was drunk also when he committed that crime. Dru nk and drive is itself a dangerous act and on top of that he was responsible for the death of four people. This Is not a small issue for the law to Just let him set free for the sake of some money. When we just compare these two case that Is the Del Gonzalez and Ethan Couch cases I strongly feel that Ethan couch should be sentenced to life in prison rather than Del Gonzalez as he did not do any hooting, he was just a member in that group, but he was convicted of murder and was sentenced to life.Just that Ethan couch parents were rich enough they could save him from that prison life. As Del Gonzalez was not rich enough he was facing prison from the age of sixteen. It's not the problem that Gonzalez was not rich enough it's that law is wrong at its state. Law is the only thing which will decide the right and wrong in the whole world and provide Justice to everyone and create some fear while doing the wrong things. This will also help the society walking in the right oath. But If the l aw Itself Is going in the wrong track from whom can we get Justice.How can we stop people In doing bad things? If the law Is so week then there will be lots of Injustice to lot many people around as everyone will not be so rich to buy the law. I always found that mercy bears richer fruits than strict Justice, which would have been true in case of Del Gonzalez, if he was released on parole. We can lead to a very dangerous mind set of the ones in the prison. They will develop a negative attitude as they might have a feeling that they wouldn't have done such a gig crime to spend their whole life in the prison.And they will know that few people even though they have committed bigger crimes are enjoying their life outside the prison. This thought will make the ones facing the prison more worst as it's a complete injustice. They will be a prisoner again rather than turning into a nicer person. In context, to effects of rich power on the Justice, I would like to rather comment on upbringin g of young individuals, â€Å"Everything depends on upbringing†, by Leo Tolstoy (war and peace). We need to keep reminding ourselves hat some people are Just raised differently.They are set free, no limits and they actually don't care of anything. Parents should try to understand one thing and also help their children in understanding the same thing that is there are few limits to do few thing and these limits are set for their safety and also for the safety of the others. We can clearly analyses that from the above case itself, Ethan couch wouldn't be in such situation if he was restricted strictly not to drink and drive. As he was never stopped by his parents he ended up killing four people when he was drunk.The situation would be much better if their parents would have warned him for drunk and drive instead of buying his sentence and doing injustice to the once who are facing the prison. Parents are also giving wrong morals that whatever mistake you do we are here to buy t he consequences of it. This is a very bad moral they are giving their children instead of setting them on to the right path. That is absolutely fine if the parent's couldn't provide a sound educational when they have a good upbringing. If that was the case for Couch, why was Gonzalez given Justice in respect to his role in murder and also he should have been sent to a centre for behavioral change. I strongly oppose with the Justice given to Gonzalez, it should be given by considering his role, his age and his future. Giving sentenced to life in prison for a sixteen year kid is not advisable according to my opinion. Especially in Gonzalez case he was Just a member n that group who shot the driver.Gonzalez dint even shoot the driver but he was sentenced to life without any chance of parole. This decision of court will badly impact the future of the kid. He should at least be given a chance to rectify his mistake or sent to some counseling centers. As it's not a small thing for a sixteen year old kid to spend his rest of his life in prison where his age group people will be happily enjoying the life outside the prison. In depth, the use of power must always be accompanied by moral choice, instead of supporting the wealthier side. In case ofEthan Couch, it would have been better if his parents bequeath to him not riches, but the spirit of reverence to Justice. If Ethan Couch can be released, by introducing term â€Å"affluence†, which is his own issue, then I feel even Del Gonzalez should also be given a chance, when he was trying to lead an upright life, by overcoming all his evil deeds and also being guilty of his previous acts. In fact, every child who commits a crime deserves it. When we observe the Del Gonza lez case carefully, he was thoroughly drunk when he and two adult co-defendants attempted to steal a car, role and sentenced to life without parole.

ART CRITICISM PAPER â€Å"The Grafin von Schonfeld with her Daughter† by Elizabeth Louise Vigee-LeBrun   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   In the University Of Arizona Museum Of Art, the Pfeiffer Gallery is displaying many art pieces of oil on canvas paintings. These paintings are mostly portraits of people, both famous and not. They are painted by a variety of artists of European decent and American decent between the mid 1700’s and the early 1900’s. The painting by Elizabeth Louise Vigee-Lebrun caught my eye and drew me in to look closely at its composition.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   â€Å"The Grafin von Scholfeld with her Daughter† is oil on canvas art piece painted in 1793. It is a painting of a woman holding her daughter on her lap, the woman being â€Å"The Grafin von Schonfeld.† The woman is dressed in clothing that is from the upper class or a royalty stature in the late 1700’s. The clothing looks rich in material and sleek like silk in the colors of wine and a rich green. She has a covering on her head that looks like an extravagant scarf that drapes over her shoulder on one side, also made of the same silky material used for her dress. The woman has pale skin, reddish brown hair, bluish eyes, and rosy cheeks. Her eyes look very real and penetrating when you examine the painting. The daughter is about the age of 5 or 6 years old. Her arms are around her mother’s neck and legs draped across her mother’s lap. The daughter is wearing a white fluid dress that looks thin in material with a red sash around her midsection. The d aughter has the same reddish brown hair and rosy cheeks. The mothers and daughters eyes are equally as big in size, while the child’s eyes seem also very real and youthful.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   The mother and daughter are sitting on a bench of some sort on a ledge of a window with a portion of the window open. Outside the window there is landscape of mountains, trees, and a stormy sky. The sky is rich with a high value of grays including the whites of the clouds. The technique for creating the landscape out the window, the painter used an atmospheric perspective. The outside is slightly less focused and very fluid compared to the detail used for the mother and daughter.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   The colors used in the painting are very vivid yet rich in depth. A combination of high chroma and low chroma gives the picture its dep... ...oul. Maybe Vigee-LeBrun had this idea when painting and wanted the eyes of the people she painted to show the souls and the life of the people instead focusing on features that were less valuable.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã¢â‚¬Å"The Grafin von Schonfeld with her Daughter† is very interesting to look at. It shows history and context of the lives of the 1700’s. The textures of the dresses are beautiful and very alluring to the eye. The porcelain skin of the mother and daughter give the painting innocence and purity, along with the loving nature between the mother and the daughter. This is a very good piece of artwork because it draws you to it with you knowing why. Once looking at the painting you find yourself looking into the eyes of the subject being painted and seeing another life with in the portrait. The eyes can almost be eerie as well as breathtaking at the same time. The painting produces richness and a feeling of royalty that people in the 21st century do not understand but yearn just the same. I was very impressed of the classic style of the painting and my own yearning to have the same richness and â€Å"classiness† as the lives that were portrayed in Vigee-LeBrun’s painting.
